Community
Tasman Pine Forests employ some 15 staff and 22 forestry contractors with over 100 employees.
Communities local to our forests provide the majority of our workforce and as a result Tasman Pine Forests, as employers, contribute to the economic wellbeing of our communities.
Tasman Pine Forests also provide financial support to the Rescue Helicopter, community and environmental projects and a local sporting team.
Recent community contributions include a new rural fire appliance for the Upper Moutere Fire Brigade, donation of logs to the Wakefield Higgins Museum and the Wood Choppers Assn and a contribution to the Brightwater Snowden’s Bush Trust.
Two totara logs burnt in the Pigeon Valley Fire were donated to local iwi for wood carving and a log section was carved into a mortar and donated to the Japanese society for their annual new year rice ceremony celebration.
Environmental projects include weed control in conservation areas, rare threatened and endangered species protection and contribution to the Teapot Valley native restoration project.
Our forests also host mountain bike events and other recreational activities.
Tasman Pine Forests are also a major sponsor of the Mako’s rugby team.
